Cross-Chain Deposits

Deposit to Opinio from any EVM chain using our LI.FI integration. This guide covers everything you need to know about bridging funds from Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, and other supported chains.

What is LI.FI?

LI.FI is a bridge aggregator that:

  • Finds the best route across multiple bridges

  • Compares prices across paths

  • Executes complex cross-chain swaps

  • Handles the entire bridging process

You don't need to manually choose bridges or worry about which one offers the best rates - LI.FI does it for you.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open Cross-Chain Deposit

  1. Go to your Portfolio

  2. Click Deposit

  3. Select Cross-Chain option

The LI.FI widget will open.

Step 2: Connect Your EVM Wallet

If not already connected:

  1. Click "Connect Wallet" in the widget

  2. Select your wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase, etc.)

  3. Approve the connection

Step 3: Select Source Chain

Click the "From" dropdown and choose your chain:

  • Ethereum Mainnet

  • Arbitrum One

  • Base

  • Polygon

  • Optimism

  • Or any other supported chain

Step 4: Select Source Token

Choose what token to bridge:

  • Native tokens (ETH, MATIC, etc.)

  • Stablecoins (USDC, USDT, DAI)

  • Any other supported token

Step 5: Enter Amount

Type the amount you want to deposit:

  • Enter in token terms (e.g., "0.5 ETH")

  • See the USD equivalent

  • Widget shows your available balance

Step 6: Review the Quote

LI.FI displays:

Field

Token and amount leaving your wallet

You Receive

USDC amount credited to Opinio

Step 7: Approve Token (If Needed)

For ERC-20 tokens (not native ETH):

  1. Click "Approve" to allow the bridge contract

  2. Confirm the approval in your wallet

  3. Wait for confirmation

Step 8: Execute the Bridge

  1. Click "Bridge" or "Swap"

  2. Review the transaction in your wallet

  3. Confirm the transaction

  4. Wait for bridging to complete

Step 9: Wait for Completion

Bridging typically takes 2-5 minutes:

  • Transaction confirms on source chain

  • Funds bridge across to Solana

  • USDC arrives and credits your account

  • You receive a confirmation notification

Understanding Bridge Routes

LI.FI may use different routes depending on:

Direct Bridge

Simple, one-step bridge.

Multi-Step Route

Swap first, then bridge for better rates.

Multi-Hop Route

Complex routes for best pricing.

LI.FI handles all this complexity automatically.

Fees Breakdown

Network Fees

  • Source chain gas - Paid in native token (ETH, MATIC, etc.)

  • Solana fee - Minimal (~$0.001)

Bridge Fees

  • Built into the exchange rate

  • Varies by bridge and route

  • Shown in the quote before confirming

No Opinio Fee

  • We don't charge additional fees for deposits

  • What LI.FI quotes is what you pay

Tracking Your Bridge

In-Widget Tracking

The LI.FI widget shows real-time status:

  • Transaction submitted

  • Bridging in progress

  • Completed

External Tracking

You can also track on:

  • Source chain block explorer

  • LI.FI explorer (li.fi/explorer)

  • Solana explorer (for final transaction)

Troubleshooting

"Insufficient Balance"

  • Check you have enough for the amount + gas fees

  • Leave some native token for gas

"Approval Failed"

  • Try increasing gas limit

  • Check if you have enough native token for gas

  • Some tokens require exact approval amounts

Bridge Taking Too Long

Normal times:

  • Ethereum → Solana: 3-10 minutes

  • L2s → Solana: 2-5 minutes

If longer than 30 minutes:

  1. Check source chain transaction status

  2. Check LI.FI explorer

  3. Contact support with transaction hash

Transaction Failed

  • Note the error message

  • Check if funds were deducted (if not, try again)

  • If funds stuck, check LI.FI status page

  • Contact support with transaction details

Best Practices

Timing Your Deposits

  • Gas fees vary by time of day

  • Ethereum fees are often lower on weekends

  • Check current gas prices before large deposits

Slippage Settings

  • Default slippage is usually fine

  • For very large amounts, you may want to adjust

  • Lower slippage = higher chance of failure

Security

  • Always verify you're on the official Opinio site

  • Double-check the destination is Opinio's address

  • Start with smaller test transactions
